Interbank closing: PKR gains 19.03 paisa against USD

WEB DESK: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 19.03 paisa against the US dollar (USD) in Friday’s interbank session, closing the trade at PKR 278.2 per USD, up from the previous session’s closing of PKR 278.39 per USD.

The local currency reached an intraday high of 278.75 and a low of 278.65 during the trading session.

On a weekly basis, the local currency gained 13 paisa against the USD. In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 277.75 for buying and PKR 280.50 for selling.

In comparison to other currencies, the British pound increased by 17.41 paisa, closing at PKR 356.04 compared to PKR 355.87 from the previous day.

The Saudi riyal saw a slight depreciation, closing at PKR 74.18 with a loss of 5.07 paisa from its previous value of PKR 74.23.

The Swiss franc experienced significant gains, closing at PKR 312.67, up 76.77 paisa from the previous session’s PKR 311.9. Against the Japanese yen, the PKR lost 0.87 paisa, closing at PKR 1.7892 versus the previous day’s PKR 1.7805.

The euro saw an increase of 23.82 paisa against the PKR, closing at PKR 302.96 compared to PKR 302.72 the previous day.

The Chinese yuan lost 0.53 paisa, closing at PKR 38.41, maintaining its value from the previous session. The UAE dirham decreased in value by 5.28 paisa, from PKR 75.74 a day ago to PKR 75.79.
