Interbank closing: PKR appreciates by 16.4 paisa against USD


Pakistani Rupee gains against dollar intraday

KARACHI: In Friday’s interbank market, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 16.4 paisa against the US dollar (USD).

The rupee closed the session at PKR 278.5 per USD, an improvement from the previous closing rate of PKR 278.66 per USD. During the day, the rupee reached an intraday high bid of 278.60 and a low ask of 278.40.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 278.5 for buying and PKR 280.5 for selling.

On a weekly basis, the PKR experienced a decline of over 16 paisa against the USD.

Regarding other major currencies, the Saudi Riyal ended at PKR 74.21, a decrease of 6.55 paisa from the previous rate of PKR 74.27. The UAE Dirham fell by 4.26 paisa, closing at PKR 75.87 compared to PKR 75.83 the day before.

The British Pound weakened by 2.35 rupees, closing at PKR 354.13, down from PKR 356.48.

In contrast, the PKR gained 20.5 paisa against the Euro, ending at PKR 300.82 compared to PKR 301.03 previously. The Swiss Franc saw an increase of 1.74 rupees, closing at PKR 319.58 from PKR 317.84. The Chinese Yuan also strengthened by 12 paisa, ending at PKR 38.6, up from PKR 38.48.

However, the PKR declined by 0.83 paisa against the Japanese Yen, closing at PKR 1.8677 compared to PKR 1.8594 the previous day.
