IMF programme on track, no disruptions: Finance Ministry

ISLAMABAD: Finance Ministry has reassured that the country’s ongoing 37-month programme with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is proceeding smoothly and without disruptions.
The government remains fully committed to meeting all the programme’s conditionalities, with a focus on ensuring its successful completion in close collaboration with IMF staff, according to a recent press release.
Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Pakistan’s Minister for Finance and Revenue, underscored the government’s steadfast commitment to implementing macroeconomic reforms during a recent briefing to the National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance.
He reiterated that adherence to the IMF programme is essential for securing long-term macroeconomic stability.
The ministry dismissed speculation about setbacks in the programme’s execution, asserting that such claims were based on subjective interpretations and lacked credible evidence.
The government emphasised its focus on maintaining economic stability and fulfilling all obligations under the IMF framework with transparency and diligence.
Pakistan’s authorities, in face of current economic challenges, remain resolute in commitment to IMF-backed reforms, aiming to create a foundation for stronger, more sustainable and inclusive growth.
Pakistan hopes to restore macroeconomic balance while fostering conditions for future economic resilience with ongoing coordination between the government and IMF.
