Inflation will gradually reduce, says finance minister


Finance Minister, Muhammad Aurangzeb, admitted that several issues still remained regarding Pakistan’s adherence to agreements with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb is set to embark on a crucial trip to Washington on April 14, where he will initiate discussions regarding the status of Pakistan’s IMF program.

Earlier the finance minister had shared plans to engage with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on a comprehensive and long-term package.

Ahead of his departure, while speaking to media Aurangzeb reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing inflation, assuring the public that measures are in place to gradually reduce it.

Responding to a question regarding the government’s policy direction, Aurangzeb emphasised that decisions will be made in consultation with the provinces and keeping the best interest of the country in sight.

When asked whether the government will adhere to the policies of the previous administration or introduce new ones, the Finance Minister reiterated the government’s stance on following policies that align with the nation’s interests.

“Whatever measures are taken, they will be in the interest of the country,” Aurangzeb said.
