PKR drops 5 paisa against US dollar, closes at Rs277.74

KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) slightly weakened by 5 paisa, or 0.02 per cent, against the US dollar during Tuesday’s interbank trading, closing at Rs277.74 per dollar.
This was a marginal dip from the previous day’s rate of Rs277.69.
Throughout the trading session, the rupee fluctuated, reaching an intraday high of Rs277.80 and a low of Rs277.70.
Despite this small dip, the PKR has gained some ground against the dollar, appreciating by 60.38 paisa or 0.22 per cent since the start of the current fiscal year. It has also risen by Rs4.12, or 1.48 per cent, so far this calendar year.
In comparison to foreign currencies, here’s how the PKR performed:
British Pound in PKR: The PKR gained 42.09 paisa (0.12 per cent), closing at Rs361.14 from Rs361.56.
Euro in PKR: It rose by 37.62 paisa (0.12 per cent), ending at Rs300.90, compared to Rs301.28 previously.
Japanese Yen in PKR: The rupee gained 1.17 paisa (0.63 per cent), settling at Rs1.8415 versus Rs1.8532.
UAE Dirham in PKR: It dropped by 1.36 paisa (0.02 per cent) to Rs75.61.
Chinese Yuan in PKR: The PKR edged up by 2.91 paisa (0.07 per cent) to close at Rs39.00.
Swiss Franc in PKR: The rupee weakened by 9.50 paisa (0.03 per cent), ending the day at Rs321.10.
Saudi Riyal in PKR: It slipped by 1.14 paisa (0.02 per cent), closing at Rs73.95.
Overall, the rupee’s performance remains steady with small shifts across various currencies.
