Interbank closing: PKR loses 9.28 paisa against USD


US dollar to Pakistani rupee intraday

WEB DESK: On Wednesday, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 9.28 paisa against the US dollar (USD), closing the interbank session at PKR 278.50 per USD. This marks a decline from the previous session’s closing rate of PKR 278.41 per USD.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the USD at PKR 278.50 for buying and PKR 279.75 for selling.

The PKR saw mixed performance against other major currencies.

The Swiss franc (CHF) fell by 19.43 paisa, settling at PKR 312.71 compared to the previous session’s PKR 312.90. The British Pound (GBP) also depreciated, losing 81.31 paisa to close at PKR 358.82, down from PKR 359.63.

Conversely, the PKR appreciated against the Euro, gaining 1.24 rupees to close at PKR 301.56, up from PKR 302.80. The Chinese Yuan (CNY) saw a slight increase of 0.67 paisa, closing at PKR 38.28 compared to PKR 38.27 previously.

The PKR depreciated by 1.57 paisa against the Japanese Yen (JPY), ending the day at PKR 1.8014, down from PKR 1.7857.

The UAE Dirham (AED) appreciated by 2.53 paisa against the PKR, closing at PKR 75.80, up from PKR 75.82.

Similarly, the Saudi Riyal (SAR) strengthened by 2.08 paisa, closing at PKR 74.24 compared to PKR 74.22 previously.
