Interbank closing: PKR loses 8.46 paisa against USD


One US dollar to Pakistani rupee

WEB DESK: In Wednesday’s interbank trading session, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) weakened by 8.46 paisa against the US dollar (USD), settling at PKR 278.74 per USD.

This represents a slight decline from the previous session’s closing rate of PKR 278.66 per USD. During the session, the rupee reached an intraday high of PKR 278.95 and a low of PKR 278.75.

In the open market, exchange companies listed the dollar at PKR 278.50 for buying and PKR 280.60 for selling.

Among other major currencies, the Chinese Yuan appreciated by 17.63 paisa, ending the day at PKR 38.59 compared to PKR 38.42 in the previous session.

Conversely, the British Pound depreciated by 39.3 paisa, closing at PKR 357.78, down from PKR 358.17 the day before.

The rupee gained 14.55 paisa against the Euro, closing at PKR 301.43, up from PKR 301.58 previously. However, it depreciated by 5.28 paisa against the Japanese Yen, ending at PKR 1.8516 compared to PKR 1.7988 in the prior session.

The Swiss Franc saw an increase of PKR 2.06, closing at PKR 316.37, up from PKR 314.32. The UAE Dirham rose by 2.3 paisa, reaching PKR 75.87 from PKR 75.89. Similarly, the Saudi Riyal gained 2.06 paisa, closing at PKR 74.30, compared to PKR 74.28 previously.
