Intraday trade: PKR gains 10 paisa against USD

The Pakistani rupee (PKR) gained 10 paisa against the US dollar (USD) in early morning trade, with the dollar quoted at Rs280.07 on Tuesday, according to currency exchange companies.

During the current fiscal year, the PKR has weakened by Rs1.83 or 0.65 per cent against the USD. Since the start of the calendar year 2025, it has depreciated by Rs1.62 or 0.58 per cent.

In the previous trading session on Monday, the PKR rose by 4.65 paisa or 0.02 per cent against the US dollar, closing at Rs280.17 per USD compared to the previous close of Rs280.22. The currency saw an intraday high of Rs280.40 and a low of Rs279.19 during the day.

Local currency exchange companies quoted the dollar at Rs280.50 for buying and Rs282.00 for selling.

Here’s how the local currency performed against other major currencies on March 17:

PKR rose 4.93 paisa or 0.13 per cent against the Chinese Yuan, closing at Rs38.69 from Rs38.74.

PKR strengthened by 1.26 paisa or 0.02 per cent against the UAE Dirham, closing at Rs76.28.

Against the British Pound, the PKR fell by 23.41 paisa or 0.06 per cent to Rs362.47 compared to Rs362.23 the previous day.

The PKR declined by Rs1.14 or 0.38 per cent against the Euro, closing at Rs304.77 compared to the previous value of Rs303.63.
