Intraday trade: PKR gains 12 paisa against USD


USD to PKR intraday trade

KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) showed a slight improvement against the US dollar (USD) on Friday, appreciating by 0.04 per cent in the interbank market during early trading hours.

The local currency was trading at Rs278.60 in the morning, reflecting a gain of 12 paisa against the dollar.

On Wednesday, the rupee had declined by 3.72 paisa or 0.01 per cent, closing at Rs278.85 per USD compared to the previous day’s rate of Rs278.82. During that session, the currency saw an intraday high of Rs278.85 and a low of Rs278.70.

In the open market, exchange companies were quoting the dollar at Rs279.50-Rs278 for buying and Rs281.30-RS 281.50 for selling.

When compared to other major foreign currencies, here is how the Pakistani rupee performed:

Saudi Riyal (SAR): The PKR fell by 1.59 paisa or 0.02 per cent, reaching Rs74.33.

Euro: The rupee weakened by Rs1.29 or 0.45 per cent, closing at Rs290.30, down from Rs289.01.

Japanese Yen: The PKR strengthened by 0.29 paisa or 0.16 per cent, closing at Rs1.7870 compared to the previous rate of Rs1.7899.

UAE Dirham (AED): The rupee declined by 0.81 paisa or 0.01 per cent, settling at Rs75.92.

British Pound (GBP): The PKR dropped by Rs1.94 or 0.57 per cent, closing at Rs343.48 compared to Rs341.54 a day earlier.

Chinese Yuan (CNY): The rupee appreciated by 1.62 paisa or 0.04 per cent, ending the session at Rs38.29, slightly up from Rs38.30.

Swiss Franc (CHF): The PKR decreased by 83.60 paisa or 0.27 per cent, closing at Rs307.55.

Since the beginning of the fiscal year, the PKR has depreciated against the US dollar by 51.15 paisa or 0.18 per cent. It has also fallen by 30.27 paisa or 0.11 per cent since the start of the calendar year 2025.
