Intraday trading: PKR largely stable with four paisa gain against US dollar

KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee (PKR), on the first trading day of the week, remained mostly stable in the opening hours of trading against the US dollar (USD). The local unit was seen 0.01 per cent up in the interbank market.
The PKR was recorded at Rs277.60 after recording a minor gain of four paisa against the greenback.
Since the start of FY25, the Pakistani currency has appreciated by nearly 70 paisa against the US dollar. However, considering the calendar year, the PKR has appreciated Rs4.22 or 1.52 per cent.
PKR’s performance against major currencies on Friday:
To note, the home unit had closed the previous week at Rs277.61 after witnessing a loss of three paisa or 0.01 per cent versus the dollar on the last trading day.
Against the British pound, the PKR appreciated by 20.39 paisa or 0.06 per cent to Rs360.20, compared to Rs360.40 a day ago.
The local unit appreciated 41.58 paisa or 0.13 per cent against the Swiss franc to close at Rs320.36.
Against the Japanese yen, the PKR’s value fell by 0.13 paisa or 0.07 per cent to close the session at Rs1.8269 versus Rs1.8256 a day ago.
The PKR depreciated by 50.59 paisa or 0.17 per cent against the euro, closing at Rs300.59 compared to the previous value of Rs300.08.
The home unit increased by 9.55 paisa or 0.24 per cent against the Chinese yuan to close at Rs38.98 from Rs39.07.
