Is Honda HR-V solid choice for families?

ISLAMABAD: In the realm of compact SUVs, the Honda HR-V is making a notable impression, appealing to buyers in search of a balance between practicality and style. This SUV offers excellent fuel efficiency and a well-thought-out interior, making it a solid choice for families.

One of the standout features of the HR-V is its commitment to safety, boasting an impressive array of safety features that cater to the needs of modern families. Additionally, the onboard technology is not too shabby, enhancing its family-friendly credentials. From a design perspective, the HR-V doesn’t disappoint either, with a look that’s sure to turn heads.

However, there’s a trade-off to consider. While it checks off the basics commendably, it might not quite outshine the leaders in its class. Those who seek greater flexibility might be disappointed by the HR-V’s reduced cargo space and the absence of a manual gearbox option.

For those interested in the Pakistan market, the 2023 Honda HR-V is priced between PKR 7,899,000 for the base variant VTi and PKR 8,199,000 for the top-of-the-line VTi-S model. These prices are ex-factory, providing a clear picture of the cost structure for potential buyers.

The HR-V comes equipped with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine generating around 119 horsepower and 145 Newton-meters of torque. It utilizes a CVT transmission and operates as a front-wheel drive vehicle. It’s important to note that the hybrid engine option is not currently available for this model.

Declining sales may force Pak Suzuki to exit stock market

Despite its relatively smaller size in comparison to the Hyundai Tucson and KIA Sportage, the HR-V impresses with its superior ground clearance. Honda is known for sedans with less-than-ideal ground clearance, but the HR-V is a departure from that norm. The shorter wheelbase of the HR-V contributes to its agility on city streets, making tight turns a breeze. However, it’s worth mentioning that this might translate to a less comfortable ride on highways, and the smaller 40-liter fuel tank means more frequent stops at the pump.

One of the standout advantages of the HR-V is that it belongs to the latest generation, setting it apart from the older generations of competitors like the Tucson and Sportage. While this might be significant in some markets, it’s important to consider local conditions and market dynamics when assessing its impact in Pakistan.
