KARACHI: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced its decision regarding K-Electric’s request for provisional monthly fuel cost adjustments (FCA) for August 2024.
The FCA has been set at Rs0.40 per unit for August, and this adjustment will be seen in electricity bills for January 2025.
This FCA will apply to all consumer categories except for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS), lifeline consumers, and prepaid meter users.
What’s FCA?
Fuel charge adjustments reflect the changes in fuel prices globally, which impact the cost of generating electricity. These costs are reviewed and approved by NEPRA before being passed on to consumers.
When global fuel prices drop, customers also see a reduction, or negative FCA, in their bills.
The rates that consumers are charged are determined by NEPRA and then officially announced by the federal government.
