PSX ends on negative note as KSE-100 sheds nearly 440 points

KARACH: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) experienced a turbulent trading session today, ending with the index in negative territory.
The benchmark KSE-100 Index closed at 78,029.50, reflecting a decline of 439.83 points, or 0.56 per cent.
Throughout the session, the index fluctuated within a range of 648.41 points, peaking at 78,569.88 and dipping to a low of 77,921.47. Trading volume for the KSE-100 Index amounted to 116.86 million shares.

Among the 100 companies listed on the index, 24 saw gains, 71 experienced declines, and 5 remained unchanged.
Notable decliners included NPL, down by 5.05 per cent, PSX, which fell 4.25 per cent, and SNGP, which dropped 3.62 per cent. Conversely, top gainers were YOUW, up 3.09 per cent, BAFL, which increased by 2.38 per cent, and HGFA, rising 2.29 per cent.
The major contributors to the index’s decline were HBL, which reduced the index by 52.38 points, OGDC, down by 46.15 points, and MEBL, with a drop of 44.09 points.
On the other hand, BAHL added 46.30 points, UBL contributed 40.46 points, and BAFL added 34.82 points to the index.
Sector performance revealed that the KSE-100 Index faced setbacks from Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-106.58 points), Technology & Communication (-59.62 points), and Fertilizer (-57.70 points).
However, support came from Automobile Parts & Accessories (+9.87 points), Tobacco (+6.91 points), and Miscellaneous (+5.78 points).
