PSX remains in positive territory, KSE-100 surges over 1,000 points

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) opened in the green during the last trading session, as the benchmark KSE-100 index quickly surged by 791.25 points to reach 114,504.42 at around 9:24 AM, with the trading volume standing at 18,390,821.

By 9:31 AM, the market’s upward momentum continued, with the index rising by 971.76 points to 114,684.93 and the volume increasing to 29,771,349.

The KSE-100 index reached its intraday high at approximately 11:17 AM, gaining 1,008.41 points to hit 114,721.58, which remained the highest level until 12:10 PM.

Among the KSE-100 index stocks, several companies recorded losses. Atlas Honda Limited (ATLH) fell by 1.46 per cent, or Rs12.93, to Rs873.49. Packages Limited (PKGS) dropped by 2.12 per cent, or Rs11.89, to Rs548. Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited (RMPL) declined by 0.10 per cent, or Rs9.01, to Rs9,225.99. Tariq Glass Industries Limited (TGL) slipped by 3.93 per cent, or Rs7.95, to Rs194.52. Attock Petroleum Limited (APL) was down by 1.54 per cent, or Rs6.99, to Rs448.

On the other hand, several companies posted gains. Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited (UPFL) rose by 0.67 per cent, or Rs155, to Rs23,324. Lucky Core Industries Limited (LCI) climbed by 6.61 per cent, or Rs84.62, to Rs1,364.99. Indus Motor Company Limited (INDU) increased by 1.82 per cent, or Rs38.46, to Rs2,148. Pakistan State Oil Company Limited (PSO) surged by 8.14 per cent, or Rs28.06, to Rs372.66. Nestlé Pakistan Limited (NESTLE) edged up by 0.38 per cent, or Rs27.98, to Rs7,390.

In terms of the one-year change, the stock market has risen by 74.60 per cent. However, the KSE-100 index is down by 0.50 per cent in year-to-date (YTD) terms. Over the past 52 weeks, the PSX has traded within the range of 63,856.51 to 118,735.10.
