LAHORE: Pakistan has finally sent its first batch of locally manufactured tractors to Tanzania marking a new chapter in the trade relationship with East Africa.

The export process was spearheaded by High Commissioner Ibrar Hussain and Commercial Counsellor Adeela Younis who teamed up with Masai Trekta Company.

Masai Trekta, a company based in Kenya and Tanzania, has recently set up its tractor distribution hub in Tanzania and become a key player in bringing Pakistani ATS tractors to the region with hopes of expanding into other countries as well.

Interestingly the tractors exported were made in Lahore at the Pak Tractors House.

This move is expected to help boost Pakistan’s exports as interest in these tractors across Tanzania and the wider East African market is on the rise.

Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan highlighted the teamwork between government officials, the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and the High Commission in Nairobi.

Khan expressed hope that this success would lead to more partnerships helping Pakistan make a stronger mark in African agricultural sector.

The commerce minister also noted that this initiative not only supports manufacturing industry but also helps expand its economic presence in Africa.
