WEB DESK: Lamborghini is set to unveil the highly anticipated successor to the Huracan this August, marking a new era in the company’s supercar lineup and setting its sights on the Ferrari 296 GTB.

After months of speculation and sightings of test prototypes, Lamborghini’s head of sales and marketing, Federico Foschini, confirmed that the upcoming mid-engine supercar will make its debut in August.

Though the official name hasn’t been confirmed, recent trademark filings suggest that the new supercar could be called the Temerario.

Regardless of its name, one thing is clear: this new model will bring significant changes in both design and performance compared to its predecessor, the Huracan.

Recent spy shots reveal that the front end of the new Lamborghini is set to have a more aggressive and angular design, with slim headlights and hexagonal LED daytime running lights. This new look borrows heavily from the design language of the Revuelto, Lamborghini’s latest V12 model.

The similarities continue at the rear, where the Temerario will feature an open engine bay with angular buttresses, as well as a high-mounted central exhaust. Additionally, the rear fascia is completed with a bold diffuser and exposed rear tires.

In terms of performance, the new Lamborghini will mark a significant shift from the Huracan’s 5.2-liter naturally-aspirated V10 engine to a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8.

Although this configuration is also found in the Urus, the V8 for the Temerario is expected to be unique, featuring bespoke components that differentiate it from other models.

This will likely enhance the performance and overall driving experience, making it a “highly bespoke proposition,” according to Autocar.

To further boost performance, the new Lamborghini will incorporate a plug-in hybrid system, though the exact configuration remains a closely guarded secret. The Revuelto uses three electric motors, but it’s not clear how many the new supercar will employ.

Despite this uncertainty, it’s expected to deliver significantly more power than the Huracan, with projections suggesting over 800 horsepower.

An eight-speed dual-clutch transmission is also anticipated, though Lamborghini hasn’t specified whether both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options will be available.

With its bold new design and enhanced performance, Lamborghini’s upcoming supercar is poised to be a game-changer in the world of high-performance vehicles.

The August reveal is sure to draw considerable attention, marking an exciting new chapter in the brand’s storied history.
