Lego to launch iconic children’s series Bluey’s exciting new sets this year

LONDON: The globally acclaimed children’s television series Bluey is set to make its debut in the world of Lego, with the first sets scheduled to arrive in stores later this year. Following the show’s immense success, a feature film is also in the works for a worldwide release in 2027.

Six Lego sets inspired by Bluey’s universe will be unveiled this spring and will be tailored for the Lego 4+ and Duplo range, catering to younger children, according to the Guardian.

Michaela Edgerley Stovicek, head of preschool at the Lego Group, expressed her enthusiasm, saying this partnership had been a long time coming, and that it is perfectly suited for young builders and families. “The Bluey brand centers around play, which aligns seamlessly with Lego’s values and mission.”

The latest series finale, titled The Sign, broke viewing records when it aired last year. Its creator, Joe Brumm, who aimed to create a show akin to Peppa Pig that appeals to both children and parents, has indicated that he will take a break from the series.

Brumm expressed his intent to maintain high storytelling quality, rooted in his experiences as a father of two girls, while he focuses on the upcoming feature film. He reassured fans that this does not signify the end of the television series.

Since its debut in Australia in 2018, Bluey has enjoyed remarkable success, drawing international interest through licensing by BBC Studios and airing on Disney, particularly in the United States from 2019.

Last year, Bluey was the most-watched show on Disney+ globally and ranked as the top children’s program on CBeebies and ABC in Australia. The Lego collaboration represents the latest phase of the franchise’s expansion, with BBC Studios managing brand licensing and millions of related books and toys sold each year.
