LESCO identifies major defaulters: PIA owes over Rs260 million

LAHORE: The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has unveiled a list of government institutions that have defaulted on their electricity payments, with significant arrears accumulating over time.

According to a spokesperson for LESCO, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) tops the list, owing more than PKR 260 million in unpaid bills. The Chairman’s Office of the Kasur Municipal Committee is another major defaulter, with an outstanding amount of PKR 210 million.

The Kasur municipal committee’s street lighting department also has a significant debt, exceeding PKR 180 million. Lahore General Hospital is reported to have dues amounting to PKR 160 million, while the Town Municipal Office (TMO) of Ravi Town owes PKR 140 million.

Additionally, the Town Municipal Office of Data Ganj Bakhsh Town has fallen behind on payments, with an outstanding amount of PKR 130 million. The Eye Ward of Mayo Hospital is also on the list, with arrears exceeding PKR 100 million.

LESCO’s spokesperson emphasised the need for these institutions to settle their dues promptly to ensure the uninterrupted supply of electricity.
