ISLAMABAD: The government has increased the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) following the release of an official notification.
According to the notification, the price of LPG has gone up by 54 paisa per kilogramme, bringing the new rate to Rs248.37 per kilogramme. The revised pricing will come into effect from April 1, impacting both residential and commercial consumers who rely on LPG for daily use.
Meanwhile, last month saw an increase in the import price of Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG), which rose by 4 cents per MMBTU. The new import rate now stands at $12.94 per MMBTU.
In a separate development, authorities have intensified their crackdown on illegal LPG cylinder refilling operations, which pose serious safety risks.
Acting on the directives of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sukkur, Azhar Khan, law enforcement carried out targeted raids to dismantle these unlawful activities. On Saturday, a covert operation led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Panu Aqil police station resulted in the arrest of three individuals involved in illegal gas refilling.
Officials have reiterated that unauthorised refilling of LPG cylinders not only violates safety regulations but also endangers lives. The crackdown is expected to continue in an effort to prevent further hazardous incidents.
