ISLAMABAD: The total money supply circulating in the economy until September 2024 stood at Rs39.89 trillion.
In comparison, the money supply was Rs39.45 trillion in August 2024 and Rs34.64 trillion in September 2023.
This shows a month-on-month increase of 1.1 per cent and a year-on-year rise of 15.1 per cent.
Breaking down the total supply, the SBP data revealed that Rs8.8 trillion was circulated as currency notes, while Rs21.97 trillion accounted for transferable deposits—those that can be accessed on demand without penalties or restrictions.
Currency circulation in the form of notes fell by 1.1 per cent month-on-month but increased by 6.4 per cent compared to the previous year, reflecting higher cash withdrawals by depositors due to rising inflation.
Additionally, other deposits, which include all claims other than transferable deposits in national or foreign currencies, totalled Rs5.97 trillion in September 2024—up 0.7 per cent from the previous month and 14.3 per cent year-on-year.
Coins in circulation were recorded at Rs9.06 billion in September 2024, slightly up from Rs9.04 billion in August 2024 but lower than the Rs9.17 billion figure from September 2023.
