Interbank closing: PKR loses 9.94 paisa against USD

WEB DESK: In Thursday’s interbank trading session, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 9.94 paisa against the US dollar (USD), closing at PKR 278.5 per USD. This marks a slight decline from the previous session’s closing rate of PKR 278.4 per USD.

Throughout the session, the PKR experienced an intraday high (bid) of 278.7 and a low (ask) of 278.5. Meanwhile, in the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 277.25 for buying and 280.00 for selling.

The rupee’s performance against other major currencies was mixed. The UAE Dirham appreciated by 3.12 paisa, moving from 75.83 to 75.80. Conversely, the British Pound became cheaper by 1.34 rupees, closing at 353.93 compared to the previous rate of 355.27.

The PKR showed some strength against the Euro, gaining 72.78 paisa to close at 301.01, up from 301.73. However, it lost 0.25 paisa against the Japanese Yen, ending at 1.7741 compared to 1.7716 the previous day.

The Swiss Franc saw significant gains, with the rupee appreciating by 94.73 paisa to close at 306.01, up from 305.07. Similarly, the Saudi Riyal appreciated by 2.46 paisa, closing at 74.25 compared to 74.23. The Chinese Yuan also saw a modest gain of 2.54 paisa, closing at 38.43, up from 38.41.
