Interbank closing: PKR gains 9.03 paisa against USD


US dollar in Pakistani rupee

WEB DESK: This week, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) exhibited stability against the US dollar (USD) in the interbank market, closing at PKR 278.21 per USD.

In Friday’s session, the rupee appreciated slightly by 9.03 paisa from the previous day’s closing rate of PKR 278.3 per USD.

Throughout the session, the PKR saw an intraday high (bid) of PKR 278.5 and a low (ask) of PKR 278.3. In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 277.25 for buying and PKR 280.00 for selling.

In relation to major currencies, the PKR displayed mixed performance. It gained 51.52 paisa against the euro, closing at PKR 301.16 compared to the previous rate of PKR 301.68.

Against the Japanese yen, the rupee appreciated by 0.45 paisa, ending the day at PKR 1.7714 from PKR 1.7759.

Conversely, the PKR depreciated slightly against the Chinese Yuan, losing 1.38 paisa to close at PKR 38.4 from the previous PKR 38.42.

The British Pound saw a decrease of 51.82 paisa, with the rupee closing at PKR 353.34 compared to PKR 353.86. The Swiss Franc also saw a slight depreciation of 19.87 paisa, ending at PKR 304.24 from the previous PKR 304.44.

The U.A.E. dirham and Saudi riyal also saw minor fluctuations. The Dirham fell by 2.46 paisa, closing at PKR 75.77 from PKR 75.74, while the Riyal closed at PKR 74.18, a decrease of 2.6 paisa from PKR 74.2.
