Interbank closing: PKR drops by 9.47 paisa against USD


USD to PKR interbank closing

KARACHI: In Thursday’s interbank trading session, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) experienced a slight depreciation against the US dollar (USD), closing at PKR 278.5 compared to the previous day’s rate of PKR 278.4 per USD. This marks a decrease of 9.47 paisa.

Throughout the trading day, the PKR recorded an intraday high (bid) of 278.6 and a low (ask) of 278.4 against the USD.

In the open market, exchange companies priced the dollar at 277.70 for buying and 280.25 for selling.

PKR’s performance compared to other currencies:

  • The Saudi Riyal closed at 74.24, reflecting a gain of 2.72 paisa from its previous value of 74.21.
  • The UAE Dirham strengthened by 2.47 paisa, closing at 75.8 from 75.82 the day before.
  • The Chinese Yuan closed at 38.31, up by 2.9 paisa from its previous closing of 38.28.
  • The British Pound became pricier by 1.83 rupees, closing at 355.21 compared to 353.38 previously.
  • The Swiss Franc gained 92.52 paisa, ending at 308.98 against 308.05 from the last session.
  • Against the Japanese Yen, PKR weakened marginally by 0.61 paisa, closing at 1.7272 compared to 1.7211 the previous day.
  • PKR depreciated against the Euro by 1.24 rupees, closing at 300.83 from 299.59 previously.

Throughout the current financial year, the PKR has depreciated against the USD by 15.61 paisa or 0.06 per cent. However, in the calendar year to date, the PKR has appreciated by 3.36 rupees or 1.21 per cent.
