Pakistan and Azerbaijan forge closer ties through direct flights

WEB DESK: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar highlighted the positive impact of Azerbaijan Airlines’ direct flight operation to Pakistan on people-to-people exchanges, business, and tourism during a meeting with President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan.  

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 16th Economic Cooperation Organisation Summit in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, according to reports. 

The leaders assessed the progress in bilateral relations, with a focus on trade, defence, and energy.  

They also discussed shared challenges such as Islamophobia and climate change, emphasising the crucial role of ECO in promoting regional cooperation and collective prosperity. 

Global and regional developments, including the humanitarian situation in Gaza were also part of the discussion.  

Prime Minister Kakar reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast support for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, particularly concerning Karabakh.
