Pakistan OMCs report 7pc increase in sales in August 2025

KARACHI: Pakistan’s Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) recorded sales of 1.3 million tons in Aug 2025, up 7 per cent YoY and 6 per cent MoM, according to a research report released by Topline Securities on Tuesday.
The YoY growth was supported by gradual economic recovery and reduced smuggling from Iran, while the MoM increase was driven by a decline in petroleum prices.

This takes total sales for 2MFY26 to 2.5 million tons, reflecting a 5 per cent YoY increase compared to 2.4 million tons in 2MFY25.
Excluding Furnace Oil (FO) sales in Aug 2025 were 1.28 million tons, reflecting a 11 per cent YoY and 6 per cent MoM rise. For 2MFY26, Ex-FO sales totaled 2.48 million tons, a 10 per cent YoY rise.
Motor Spirit (MS) prices declined by Rs7.54 per litre to Rs264.61 per litre, while High Speed Diesel (HSD) prices fell by Rs11.36 per litre to Rs272.99 per litre, driven by a 5 per cent MoM correction in international crude oil prices following the sharp uptick seen in July due to geopolitical tensions, Topline report said.
Product wise: MS sales saw an 8 per cent YoY and 10 per cent MoM increase to 675k tons in Aug 2025. Similarly, HSD sales rose 14 per cent YoY and 3 per cent MoM to 522k tons.
FO sales for Aug 2025 fell by 71 per cent YoY but up 21 per cent MoM to 19k tons. CYNERGY, Pearl PARCO and Attock Petroleum (APL) were the main sellers for FO this month.
Company wise: Among listed entities, APL’s sales stood at 112k tons in Aug 2025, down 1 per cent YoY due to lower FO sales but up 14 per cent MoM on the back of higher HSD sales. APL has market share of 8.54 per cent in MS and 8.81 per cent in HSD, up 73bps and 72bps respectively in Aug 2025.

Pakistan State Oil (PSO) saw a rise of 4 per cent YoY and 8 per cent MoM to 547K tons in Aug 2025. PSO’s market share in MS and HSD clocked in at 38.97 per cent and 42.30 per cent, up 39bps and 154bps MoM, respectively in Aug 2025. PSOs overall market share rose from 41.57 per cent in Jul 2025 to 42.07 per cent in Aug 2025 up 50bps primarily led by increase in HSD market share, the report went on to add.
Wafi Energy Pakistan Limited (WAFI) recorded sales of 107k tons in Aug 2025, up 16 per cent YoY and 1 per cent MoM. While HASCOL’s sales reached 42k tons, flattish YoY but down 7 per cent MoM.
