Intraday trading: PKR rises 0.05 per cent against US dollar

KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) saw a modest increase against the US dollar USD), rising by 0.05 per cent during the early hours of trading in the inter-bank market on Monday.

By the morning, the Pakistani currency was trading at Rs277.50, gaining Re0.14 against the dollar.

Since the start of the current financial year, the rupee has strengthened by 0.25 per cent, or 70.33 paisa, against the US dollar. For the ongoing calendar year, the currency has appreciated by Rs4.22, marking a 1.52 per cent gain.

On Friday, the rupee had appreciated by 0.06 per cent, or 15.29 paisa, to close at Rs277.64 per US dollar in the inter-bank market.

Performance against other foreign currencies

Euro: The rupee depreciated by 24.92 paisa, closing at Rs303.94, compared to Rs303.69 in the previous session.

Saudi Riyal: PKR lost 5.06 paisa, settling at Rs73.94, down from Rs73.99.

UAE. Dirham: The rupee declined by 4.37 paisa, closing at Rs75.63, compared to Rs75.59 previously.

Chinese Yuan: The rupee appreciated by 2.7 paisa, closing at Rs39.28, up from Rs39.26 in the prior session.

British Pound: The rupee strengthened by 17.23 paisa, settling at Rs363.05, down from Rs363.23 the day before.

Swiss Franc: PKR gained 99.05 paisa, closing at Rs324.06, compared to Rs323.07 from the last session.

Japanese Yen: A slight increase of 0.09 paisa brought the rupee to Rs1.8649, up from Rs1.8658.
