PAMA reports notable surge in motorcycle sales


Honda motorcycle sales surge

WEB DESK: Motorcycle and three-wheeler sales in Pakistan surged by 31 per cent year-on-year in April 2024, totaling 107,590 units, as per the latest data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA).

This marked a significant increase from the 82,136 units sold in April of the previous year.

Similarly, on a month-on-month basis, sales showed a notable uptick of 14.94 per cent, with April 2024 sales surpassing those of March 2024, which stood at 93,606 units.

However, despite the monthly surge, cumulative sales for the ten-month period ending April 2024 (10MFY24) recorded a 6.5 per cent year-on-year decline, totaling 941,406 units compared to 1.006 million units sold in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

In terms of production, April saw a substantial increase of 26.76 per cent year-on-year, with a total of 98,183 units manufactured, up from 77,457 units in April of the previous year.

Nonetheless, on a monthly comparison, production witnessed a slight decrease of 3.9 per cent, with 102,165 units produced in March 2024.

Honda continued its dominance in the market, solidifying its position as the industry leader with sales of 95,069 units in April 2024, capturing a market share of 88.36 per cent.

This marked an 18.63 per cent increase from the previous month and a 29.30 per cent increase compared to April 2023. However, Honda’s ten-month sales for FY24 stood at 819,752 units, down from 843,219 units in FY23.

Following Honda, United Auto Motorcycle and Road Prince Motorcycle emerged as the second and third leaders, with sales figures of 7,185 and 1,514 units respectively in April 2024.

Sazgar closely trailed behind, selling 1,212 three-wheelers in April, marking a 9.62 per cent decrease from the previous month but showing a significant increase of 2.99 times compared to April 2023.
