PEF disburses Rs1.6 billion for school fees of 2.6 million students

Lahore school monthly fee increase

WEB DESK: In a recent development, the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has disbursed payments amounting to Rs1.6 billion for the month of January 2024, benefitting over 2.6 million students across more than 7,000 partner schools.

A spokesperson for PEF addressed the delay in the disbursement of payments for January 2024, attributing it to the non-receipt of funds to the Punjab Education Foundation.

The spokesperson assured that payments for the next months will be promptly made to partner schools as soon as the necessary funds are received in the PEF accounts.

This delay, however, is not expected to hinder the ongoing dedication of PEF to its goal of enrolling more out-of-school children, particularly through the public-private partnership model.

Highlighting the commitment of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz to education-friendly policies, the spokesperson underscored PEF’s dedication to fostering a conducive learning environment.

The emphasis was placed on the continuous efforts to enroll children in schools through effective public-private partnerships.

Additionally, PEF has taken a significant step by releasing payments and clearing all arrears, amounting to approximately Rs5.66 billion, to partner schools from December 2023 to date.
