Petrol, diesel prices expected to increase this week

WEB DESK: The government is expected to implement a slight adjustment in fuel prices for the latter part of March 2024.

As per the latest forecasts, petrol price in Pakistan are expected to rise by Rs1.07 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) price is likely to decrease by Rs0.82 per litre.

Recent data indicates a modest uptick in the ex-refinery price of petroleum as of March 12, 2024, with petrol prices hovering around Rs197.30 per litre, up marginally from Rs196.23 per litre in the preceding fortnight.

Conversely, the ex-refinery price of HSD exhibits a slight decline to approximately Rs206 from Rs206.82 per litre.

The announcement of the new prices is scheduled for midnight on March 15, 2024, and these adjustments will be applicable for the latter half of March.

It’s worth recalling that in the previous fortnight, the government increased the price of petrol by Rs4.13, bringing it to Rs279.75 per litre, while maintaining the price of HSD at Rs287.3 per litre.
