ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced new petroleum prices, keeping petrol rates unchanged but increasing the prices of high-speed diesel (HSD).
Petrol prices will remain at Rs264.61 per litre. However, HSD prices hiked up by Rs2.78 per litre, bringing the newly announced price to Rs272.77, according to a notification issued by Finance Division.
The new prices will take effect starting midnight tonight (Tuesday) for the next 15 days.
Experts believe that the notified adjustment by government took place as part of routine review of the fuel prices, influenced by global market trends and exchange rate moments.

The fuel adjustment comes after a period of two weeks. In the last adjustment, the federal government had trimmed diesel prices by Rs3 per litre to Rs269.99 while petrol prices were kept unchanged.
