PIA flight operations set to normalise following fuel arrangements

PIA

WEB DESK: A spokesperson for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) said on Wednesday that the national flag carrier’s flight schedule is returning to normalcy following the successful arrangement of funds for fuel provision.

The spokesperson elaborated in a statement that PIA has secured funds both from its internal resources and external sources. Commencing October 19, it is anticipated that PIA flights will resume their regular schedules.

Furthermore, the spokesperson assured that in the coming days, the flight schedule is expected to see further improvements.

This development comes after PIA’s flight operations were severely impacted due to a limited fuel supply from Pakistan State Oil (PSO).

Official sources revealed that a total of 24 PIA flights, including 16 international and 8 domestic flights scheduled for October 18, were temporarily suspended due to the scarcity of fuel supplied by PSO.

Amid this crisis, PIA promptly took action to accommodate passengers affected by the suspended flights by reallocating them to alternative flights.

Earlier, PSO had imposed a condition requiring a daily payment of Rs100 million for the resumption of fuel supply to PIA.

According to ARY News, the PIA spokesperson said that fuel supply will resume upon payment of this daily amount, with the national airline swiftly working towards meeting this requirement.

In response to the inconvenience faced by passengers, Pakistan International Airlines issued a sincere apology.

Going forward, PIA will be coordinating with PSO to ensure the seamless provision of fuel for its aircraft, with fuel supply contingent upon approval from the national airline.

This development marks a positive turn in the situation, offering relief to passengers and restoring normalcy to PIA’s flight operations.
