PM Kakar pushes for swift and transparent privatisation of PIA

WEB DESK: Caretaker Prime Minister (PM) Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has issued directives to expedite the transparent process of privatisation for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and the outsourcing of airport operations.

The instructions were given during a meeting with the Adviser on Aviation, Air Marshal Farhat Hussain (retired), who apprised the caretaker premier of the current state of affairs within the aviation ministry and the ongoing reforms in the sector.

The caretaker premier was briefed on the advancements made in the privatisation of PIA and the outsourcing of airport operations.

Highlighting the need for transparency, Kakar underscored the importance of expediting the privatisation process while maintaining openness in all proceedings.

Highlighting the immense potential for investment in Pakistan’s aviation sector, Kakar reiterated that safeguarding the national treasury is a top priority for the government.

To achieve this goal, the caretaker prime minister stressed the significance of privatising institutions that have been contributing to financial losses.

As the government intensifies efforts to attract investment and streamline the aviation industry, the accelerated pace of privatisation and outsourcing underlines a commitment to fiscal responsibility and the protection of national assets.
