PIA’s debt to PSO reaches Rs28.88 billion


ISLAMABAD: Ali Pervaiz Malik, the Minister for Energy (Petroleum Division), announced that as of February 28, 2025, Pakistan State Oil Company Limited (PSOCL) is owed a total of Rs28.88 billion by the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for jet fuel supplies.

This amount comprises Rs14.29 billion in principal and Rs14.59 billion in late payment surcharges.

In a written response to the National Assembly, the minister attributed PIA’s failure to meet its payment obligations to its precarious financial and liquidity situation. He indicated that PSO is actively pursuing the matter with PIA officials to expedite the settlement of the outstanding balance.
