Interbank closing: PKR gains 11.86 paisa against USD

WEB DESK: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) made gains in the interbank market on Tuesday, appreciating by 11.86 paisa against the US dollar (USD).

At the close of trading, the rupee was valued at PKR 278.12 per USD, compared to the previous session’s closing of PKR 278.24 per USD.

In the open market, the exchange rate for the dollar was PKR 276.73 for buying and PKR 279.38 for selling.

In addition to its gains against the dollar, the PKR also strengthened against several major currencies. It appreciated by 32.23 paisa against the Euro, closing at PKR 299.12, compared to its previous closing value of PKR 299.44.

The British Pound saw a notable decrease in value, with the PKR gaining by 1.12 rupees to close at PKR 348.58, a drop from the previous session’s closing rate of PKR 349.70.

Other major currencies also experienced changes. The Swiss franc fell by 87.56 paisa, with the PKR closing at PKR 306.45, down from the previous session’s PKR 307.33.

Against the Japanese Yen, the rupee gained 0.46 paisa, settling at PKR 1.8044 compared to PKR 1.8090 from the previous day.

The Chinese Yuan experienced a slight decrease in value, with the PKR gaining 0.93 paisa, closing at PKR 38.55 from the previous session’s PKR 38.56.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Riyal closed at PKR 74.16, a decline of 2.97 paisa from the previous closing of PKR 74.18.

Similarly, the U.A.E Dirham dropped by 3.33 paisa, closing at PKR 75.72 compared to the previous day’s closing of PKR 75.75.
