Intraday trade: Pakistani rupee up by 7 paisa against US dollar

KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) showed a slight improvement against the US dollar (USD) appreciating by 0.03 per cent during early trading hours in the inter-bank market on Thursday.

In the morning, the currency stood at Rs277.72, a gain of 7 paisa against the US dollar.

During the current fiscal year, the PKR has appreciated by 54.89 paisa, or 0.20 per cent, against the USD.

Since the beginning of 2024, the currency has strengthened by Rs4.07, marking a 1.46 per cent increase.

Performance of PKR on the previous trading day:

On Wednesday, the PKR weakened by 5 paisa, or 0.02 per cent, against the US dollar, closing at Rs277.79, compared to the previous day’s rate of Rs277.74.

Swiss Franc: The PKR appreciated by 38.59 paisa, or 0.12 per cent, closing at Rs320.24.

U.A.E Dirham: It depreciated by 1.36 paisa, or 0.02 per cent, settling at Rs75.63.

Euro: The PKR fell by 48.46 paisa, or 0.16 per cent, to close at Rs300.72 from Rs300.24.

Japanese Yen: It gained 0.05 paisa, or 0.03 per cent, ending the session at Rs1.8126 compared to Rs1.8131 a day earlier.

British Pound: The PKR weakened by 94 paisa, or 0.26 per cent, to Rs361.34 from Rs360.40.

Chinese Yuan: The currency depreciated by 9.60 paisa, or 0.25 per cent, closing at Rs38.99 from Rs38.89.

Saudi Riyal: The PKR slid by 1.33 paisa, or 0.02 per cent, settling at Rs73.97.
