Intraday trading: PKR rises by 14 paisa against USD

KARACHI: On the first trading day of the week, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) gained around 14 paisa against the US dollar in the interbank market.
According to forex dealers, the Pakistani currency was quoted at Rs277.50 per dollar at approximately 10 AM today.
Since the beginning of the current financial year, the PKR has appreciated by 70.22 paisa, or 0.25 per cent, against the dollar. During the ongoing calendar year, it has gained 4.22 rupees, or 1.52 per cent.
In the last trading session on Friday, the PKR appreciated by 4.79 paisa, or 0.02 per cent, against the US dollar, closing at Rs277.64 compared to the previous closing rate of Rs277.69. Throughout the week, the rupee gained a total of 20 paisa against the greenback.

– The British pound rose by 92.17 paisa, closing at Rs371.25 compared to Rs370.32 from a day earlier.
– The euro gained 16.88 paisa against the PKR, closing at Rs309.19 compared to Rs309.02 previously.
– The Saudi riyal remained unchanged at Rs74.02.
– Against the Japanese yen, the PKR fell by 1.79 paisa, closing at Rs1.9329 compared to Rs1.915 from the previous day.
– The UAE dirham increased slightly, rising by 1.3 paisa to close at Rs75.60, up from Rs75.59.
– The Chinese yuan gained 3.72 paisa, closing at Rs39.59 compared to Rs39.55 in the previous session.
– The Swiss franc appreciated by 85.2 paisa, closing at Rs328.08 compared to Rs327.23 from the prior session.
The PKR’s overall performance indicates slight gains and losses against a basket of foreign currencies, reflecting ongoing fluctuations in the interbank market.
