Interbank closing: PKR depreciates by 9.03 paisa against USD

WEB DESK: In Monday’s interbank trading session, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 9.03 paisa against the US dollar (USD), closing at PKR 278.3 per USD, compared to the previous session’s rate of PKR 278.21 per USD.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the US dollar at PKR 277.25 for buying and PKR 280 for selling.

Against major currencies, the PKR exhibited varied performance:

Euro: The PKR weakened by 68.22 paisa, closing at PKR 301.84, down from PKR 301.16.

Swiss Franc: The currency saw a loss of 18.38 paisa, ending at PKR 304.05 compared to the previous session’s PKR 304.24.

Chinese Yuan: The PKR gained 1.17 paisa, closing at PKR 38.41, up from PKR 38.4.

British Pound: The Pound Sterling became more expensive by PKR 1.05, closing at PKR 354.39, up from PKR 353.34.

UAE Dirham: The Dirham increased by 2.77 paisa, closing at PKR 75.74 from PKR 75.77.

Saudi Riyal: The Riyal appreciated by 2.6 paisa, closing at PKR 74.2 from PKR 74.18.

Japanese Yen: The PKR lost 0.22 paisa, closing at PKR 1.7736, down from PKR 1.7714.

This varied performance of the PKR against different currencies highlights the ongoing volatility in the forex market.
