Interbank closing: PKR slides by eight paisa against greenback

WEB DESK: In Wednesday’s interbank trading session, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) experienced a depreciation of 8.06 paisa against the US dollar (USD), settling at Rs278.26 per USD.
This marks a slight decline from the previous session’s closing rate of Rs278.18 per USD.
Throughout the trading day, the PKR witnessed fluctuations, reaching an intraday high (bid) of Rs278.55 and a low (ask) of Rs278.35 against the greenback.
Meanwhile, in the open market, exchange companies set the buying rate for the dollar at Rs276.93 and the selling rate at Rs279.45.
Comparatively, against other currencies, the PKR experienced various shifts. It lost 1.31 rupees against the Euro, closing at Rs301.25 compared to the previous day’s value of Rs299.94.
Against the Japanese Yen, the PKR depreciated by 0.5 paisa, closing at 1.7827 compared to the previous day’s 1.7777.
However, the Chinese Yuan saw a gain of 8.44 paisa, closing at PKR 38.52 against the previous value of PKR 38.44.
Furthermore, the British Pound appreciated by 1.9 rupees, closing at PKR 350.45 compared to PKR 348.55 from the previous day.
The U.A.E Dirham also increased in value by 2.09 paisa, rising from 75.76 to 75.74. Similarly, the Swiss Franc saw gains of 1.12 rupees, closing at PKR 307.36 compared to PKR 306.24 from the previous session.
Lastly, the Saudi Riyal closed at PKR 74.2, showing a gain of 2.15 paisa from its previous value of PKR 74.17.
