Interbank closing: PKR gains 12.24 paisa against USD

KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 12.24 paisa against the US dollar (USD) during Tuesday’s interbank trading session.

The currency closed at PKR 278.50 per USD, an improvement from the previous session’s closing rate of PKR 278.62 per USD.

During the session, the rupee experienced an intraday high (bid) of PKR 278.75 and a low (ask) of PKR 278.55.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 277.75 for buying and PKR 280.50 for selling.

PKR’s performance against major currencies

U.A.E Dirham (AED): The PKR decreased by 3.44 paisa, with the AED closing at PKR 75.86, up from PKR 75.82 the previous day.

Swiss Franc (CHF): The PKR gained 5.49 paisa, closing at PKR 311.80, compared to the previous session’s rate of PKR 311.75.

Japanese Yen (JPY): The PKR depreciated by 0.2 paisa, ending at PKR 1.7467 against the JPY, down from PKR 1.7447.

Euro (EUR): The PKR lost 30.06 paisa, closing at PKR 298.75, down from PKR 298.45.

British Pound (GBP): The PKR weakened by 91.73 paisa, with the GBP closing at PKR 353.51, compared to PKR 352.60.

Chinese Yuan (CNY): The PKR declined by 2.11 paisa, ending at PKR 38.35, slightly down from PKR 38.37.

Saudi Riyal (SAR): The PKR decreased by 4.06 paisa, closing at PKR 74.23, compared to the previous day’s rate of PKR 74.27.

These currency fluctuations reflect the dynamic nature of the foreign exchange market, influenced by various global and local economic factors.
