Intraday update: PKR rises 22 paisa against USD

KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) on the first trading day of the week opened in green and rose 0.01 per cent against the US dollar (USD) during the initial trading hours.
Before 10:30 AM, the Pakistani currency was seen 22 paisa up against the greenback, hovering at Rs277.83 per USD.
PKR closed the previous week with a loss of 29 paisa in five trading sessions at Rs278.05 against USD.
For those unaware, during the ongoing financial year, PKR has appreciated nearly 29 paisa against the dollar, showing a slight growth of 0.10 per cent. Since the beginning of 2024, the local unit has gained Rs3.81 or 1.37 per cent versus the American currency.
Here is how the PKR performed against other foreign currencies on the previous trading day:
PKR dropped by Rs1.17 and 0.40 per cent against the Euro and closed Friday at Rs294.
The home unit ended at Rs315.45 against the Swiss France with 0.34 per cent gain of Rs1.06.
Japanese Yen rose 1.74 per cent or 2.14 paisa versus the local currency and settled at Rs1.85.
Pakistani currency rose 0,02 per cent or 1.54 paisa versus the Saudi Riyal and closed at Rs74.02 but dropped 0.16 paisa against UAE Dirham to close the week at Rs75.70.
