Interbank closing: PKR drops by 2.52 paisa against USD


US dollar to Pakistani rupee

WEB DESK: In Wednesday’s interbank session, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 2.52 paisa against the US dollar (USD), closing the trade at PKR 278.4 per USD.

This marks a slight drop from the previous session’s closing rate of PKR 278.38 per USD.

During the session, the PKR experienced an intraday high (bid) of PKR 278.7 and a low (ask) of PKR 278.5. In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 277.54 for buying and PKR 280.20 for selling.

The PKR also saw fluctuations against other major currencies. The British pound became more expensive, rising by PKR 1.92 to close at PKR 353.38, compared to the previous day’s rate of PKR 351.45.

The Swiss franc showed a minor gain of 1.08 paisa, closing at PKR 308.05, up from PKR 308.04 in the previous session. Conversely, the PKR gained 0.07 paisa against the Japanese yen, closing at PKR 1.7211 compared to PKR 1.7218 a day earlier.

Against the euro, the PKR lost PKR 1.2, closing at PKR 299.59, down from the previous value of PKR 298.39. The Chinese yuan saw a minor loss of 0.75 paisa, closing at PKR 38.28, unchanged from the previous session.

The UAE dirham appreciated by 0.79 paisa, rising from PKR 75.8 to PKR 75.79. The Saudi riyal also increased in value by 1.07 paisa, closing at PKR 74.21, up from its previous value of PKR 74.2.
