PSX climbs over 900 points as rally continues

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) started Tuesday’s session on a strong note, building on the momentum from the previous day.

The benchmark KSE-100 index opened in the green and continued to rise in early trade, gaining over 941 points within the first 30 minutes to reach 142,994.33.

By 10:50 AM, the KSE-100 was trading at 142,842.80, still up by a notable 790.16 points, reflecting a rise of 0.56 percent from the previous close. The index touched an intraday high of 142,995.86 and a low of 142,235.71 during this period.

The trading volume stood at 77.74 million shares around that time, with the total traded value recorded at approximately Rs9.37 billion.

A few minutes later, at 10:54 AM, the benchmark index was last seen at 142,875.13, marking a gain of 822.49 points or 0.58 percent. The total traded volume had also edged higher to 80.78 million shares by then.

Tuesday’s bullish start follows a strong close on Monday, when the KSE-100 finished at 142,052.64, up by 1,017.66 points or 0.72 percent. On that day, the index remained firmly positive throughout the session, recording an intraday high of 142,323.34 and a low of 141,440.48. The total volume for the session was recorded at 349.23 million shares.

The latest trading shows that the KSE-100 has surged significantly over the past year, with a 1-year gain of 85.35 percent. The index has also risen 24.10 percent since the start of the calendar year.

Top gainers

In terms of market performance, several stocks stood out as top advancers during early trade. RUBY saw its share price climb to Rs9.63, up by Rs1.00 or 11.59 percent. GRYL gained Rs1.08 to reach Rs11.83, marking a 10.05 percent increase. ANTM jumped Rs3.27 to Rs35.94, also up 10.01 percent. Other notable gainers included LSEFSL (up Rs2.41 to Rs26.49), SASML (up Rs16.10 to Rs177.05), CHBL (up Rs2.10 to Rs23.10), and NESTLE, which surged by Rs790.76 to Rs8,698.32. TPLL, BAFS, and JKSM also posted strong gains, rising between 9.95 to 10 percent.

Top losers

However, not all shares followed the upward trend. FSWL declined by Rs10.49 to Rs97.00, marking a loss of 9.76 percent. PMRS dropped Rs31.43 to Rs293.21, while ELSM fell Rs9.96 to Rs109.99. Other notable laggards included SML (down Rs5.72 to Rs65.10), NEXT (down Rs0.77 to Rs9.14), and SUHJ (down Rs8.64 to Rs106.00). ASHT, TRSM, SHJS, and DMTM were also among the top decliners, shedding between 6.63 to 7.36 percent in early trade.

The day’s range for the index so far has been between 142,235.71 and 142,995.86. The broader 52-week range shows just how far the index has climbed, having moved from a low of 76,943.24 to a new high of 142,995.86.

Overall, the early hours of Tuesday’s session reflect continued investor optimism, supported by strong buying interest and robust market sentiment.
