PSX closing: KSE-100 sheds 314 points


Pakistan Stock Exchange decline

KARACHI: The Pakistani Stock Exchange’s (PSX) KSE-100 index concluded Thursday’s trading session at 65,417.40, registering a decline of 314.39 points or 0.48 per cent.

Throughout the day, the index fluctuated within a range of 870.23 points, hitting a high of 66,196.24 (+464.45) and a low of 65,326.01 (-405.78) points. Trading activity saw a total volume of 242.672 million shares.

Leading the downturn were companies such as PPL, SYS, OGDC, LUCK, and PIOC, collectively contributing 183.29 points to the index’s decline.

Conversely, companies like NBP, FFC, MCB, MEBL, and DAWH countered the negative trend, adding a total of 132.33 points to the index.

The broader market sentiment was reflected in the All-Share index, which closed at 43,499.92, witnessing a net loss of 194.67 points.

Total market volume stood at 389.655 million shares, up from the previous session, while the traded value decreased to Rs11.31 billion, showing a decline of Rs0.54bn.

Across 355 companies, there were 155,386 trades, with 113 stocks closing higher, 221 lower, and 21 unchanged.

It’s worth noting that the KSE-100 index has shown significant gains during the fiscal year, accumulating 23,965 points or 57.81 per cent.

Meanwhile, the ongoing calendar year has seen a more modest increase of 2,966 points, equivalent to 4.75 per cent.
