PSX sees early surge as KSE-100 gains 1,441 points before slipping

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange’s (PSX) benchmark KSE-100 index opened the final trading day of 2024 in the green, with a gain of 1,441 points, standing at 116,700.01 at around 9:30 AM.

However, these significant gains were short-lived as the index dropped to 116,117.79, still 858.8 points higher than the previous close of 115,258.99.

The KSE-100 continued to fluctuate, dipping into the red and falling to 114,804.8 by 10:39 AM, reflecting a loss of 454.19 points.

After 10:48 AM, the PSX began to recover from the early losses, re-entering the green as the KSE-100 index reached 115,268.06, showing a modest gain of 9.07 points, with a trading volume of 270,316,666.

By around 12:00 PM, the KSE-100 remained in the green, up by 215.06 points at 115,474.05.

Gainers

As of 12:40 PM, the top gainers among KSE-100 companies included:

Pakistan International Bulk Terminal (PIBTL), which rose by 11.93 per cent.

Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited (PSX), up by 9.99 per cent.

Pak-Gulf Leasing Company Limited (PGLC), which gained 9.98 per cent.

Atlas Honda Limited (ATLH), up by 7.92 per cent.

Cnergyico PK Limited (CNERGY), which increased by 5.51 per cent.

Decliners

On the decliners’ side:

JDW Sugar Mills Limited (JDWS) was down by 4.18 per cent.

Punjab Oil Mills Limited (POML) dropped by 2.87 per cent.

Bank Alfalah Limited (BAFL) fell by 2.47 per cent.

Pioneer Cement Limited (PIOC) declined by 2.20 per cent.

Fauji Cement Company Limited (FCCL) decreased by 1.97 per cent.
