PSX closing: KSE-100 ends day up by over 1,700 points

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) opened on a positive note on the second last trading day of the week and month, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index gaining 569.76 points to reach 112,057.12 on Thursday, up from its previous close of 111,487.36. The trading volume at this time stood at 10,246,260 shares.

The market extended its gains around 10:14 AM, rising by 716.87 points to 112,204.23, maintaining its position in the positive zone during the early trading hours.

Among auto assemblers, most saw slight gains except for Indus Motor Company Limited (INDU), which declined by 0.49 per cent or Rs10.05 to settle at Rs2,046.02. Meanwhile, Millat Tractors Limited (MTL) increased by 0.43 per cent or Rs2.95 to Rs686.60, Atlas Honda Limited (ATLH) edged up by 0.01 per cent or Rs0.10 to Rs794, Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SAZEW) rose by 0.91 per cent or Rs8.64 to Rs960.99, and Honda Atlas Cars (Pakistan) Limited (HCAR) surged by 2.45 per cent or Rs7.19 to Rs301.21.

The PSX continued its upward trajectory, gaining 907 points by 10:49 AM, with the index hovering at 112,394.2 and a trading volume of 37,423,401 shares. Within minutes, the market rallied further, rising by 1,051 points to 112,539.24 around 10:56 AM.

After 3:00 pm, as the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) neared its close, the KSE-100 index surged by 1,913 points, reaching a day high of 113,400. However, as the session drew closer to its end, the index was up by 1.54 per cent, or 1,719 points, standing at 113,206.40 by 3:30 pm.

Over the past year, the stock market has recorded a significant increase of 81.06 per cent, though on a year-to-date (YTD) basis, the KSE-100 Index has declined by 2.74 per cent. The 52-week range for the PSX stands between 59,191.86 and 118,735.10 points.

On the previous trading day, the KSE-100 Index traded within a range of 1,412.71 points, reaching an intraday high of 112,569.89 (+539.53) and a low of 111,157.18 (-873.18). The total trading volume of the KSE-100 Index amounted to 201.92 million shares.
