PSX opens in green as KSE-100 gains over 500 points

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) opened positively on Wednesday, with the benchmark KSE-100 index rising by 209 points shortly after trading began at around 9:15 AM.
By 9:22 AM, the index had gained 351.1 points, reaching 113,094.89, with a trading volume of 4,254,766 shares. It continued its upward trend, hitting 113,246.59, marking a rise of 502.80 points or 0.45 per cent.
As of 9:40 AM on 5th March, the KSE-100 index had shown a 72.30 per cent increase over the past year but had declined by 1.63 per cent year-to-date (YTD). Over the past 52 weeks, the PSX has traded within a range of 63,856.51 to 118,735.10 points.
On Tuesday, the PSX closed at 112,743.79, recording an increase of 756.91 points, or 0.68 per cent. The index traded in a range of 1,159.84 points, with an intraday high of 112,877.01 points (+890.13) and a low of 111,717.17 points (-269.71). The total volume of the KSE-100 index was 101.17 million shares.
Sector-wise, the KSE-100 index was bolstered by gains in Commercial Banks (+183.66 points), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+134.23 points), Cement (+89.34 points), Pharmaceuticals (+89.07 points), and Fertilizer (+82.95 points).
On the other hand, it was weighed down by losses in Textile Composite (-23.58 points), Investment Banks/Investment Companies/Securities Companies (-20.86 points), Insurance (-18.58 points), Leather & Tanneries (-16.35 points), and Transport (-7.59 points).
