PSX reverses early gains, falls below 112,000 

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) opened the week in positive territory, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index rising by 439.51 points to reach 112,524.8 around 9:34 AM. The trading volume at that point stood at 2,537,215 shares.

However, the market couldn’t sustain the early gains and saw a decline by 10:45 AM, with the KSE-100 Index dropping by 375.23 points to 111,710.06. The trading volume had increased to 49,030,241 shares.

Stocks performance

Around 11:20 AM, among the KSE-100 companies, the top decliners were:

TRG Pakistan Limited (TRG), down by 4.45 per cent or Rs3, closing at Rs64.40.

Kohinoor Textile Mills Limited (KTML), down by 4.37 per cent or Rs6, closing at Rs131.33.

Pak-Gulf Leasing Company Limited (PGLC), down by 3.55 per cent or Rs0.68, closing at Rs18.50.

HBL Growth Fund (HGFA), down by 2.34 per cent or Rs0.24, closing at Rs10.01.

The Searle Company Limited (SEARL), down by 2.30 per cent or Rs2.34, closing at Rs99.40.

On the other hand, companies trading in the green included:

Pakgen Power Limited (PKGP), up by 4.54 per cent or Rs4.99, closing at Rs114.99.

Service Industries Limited (SRVI), up by 3.61 per cent or Rs48.79, closing at Rs1399.85.

Lucky Cement Limited (LUCK), up by 2.39 per cent or Rs32.62, closing at Rs1398.99.

Javedan Corporation Limited (JVDC), up by 2.01 per cent or Rs1.22, closing at Rs62.00.

Atlas Honda Limited (ATLH), up by 1.94 per cent or Rs17.01, closing at Rs895.00.

Market overview

Over the past year, the PSX has surged by approximately 83.35 per cent. However, the year-to-date (YTD) performance shows a decline of 2.82 per cent. The KSE-100 index has traded within a 52-week range of 59,191.86 to 118,735.10.

Previous close

Last week, the market closed at 112,085.29 points, with the KSE-100 Index falling by 478.78 points, or 0.43 per cent, on Friday.

The index moved within a range of 1,620.56 points during the session, hitting an intraday high of 113,482.12 (+918.05) and a low of 111,861.56 (-702.51) points.
