PSX starts week on positive note as KSE-100 rises by 800 points

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) started the first trading day of the week on a positive note, with the benchmark KSE-100 index gaining 651.51 points to reach 113,898.8 at around 9:33 AM on Monday.
Last week, the PSX had closed at 113,247.29, recording an increase of 609.03 points, or 0.54 per cent.
The KSE-100 index continued its upward momentum, rising by 821.08 points to 114,068.37 by 9:38 AM, with a trading volume of 4,758,405 shares.
However, the stock market soon became volatile, and the index fell into the red, dropping by 163.43 points to 113,083.86 by 9:46 AM, with a higher volume of 11,722,445 shares.
Nevertheless, the market regained its positive trajectory after 10:00 AM, and by around 11:00 AM, the index stood at 113,744.36, reflecting a gain of 497 points, or 0.44 per cent.
Among the KSE-100 companies trading in the red were ENGROH, down by 8.48 per cent to 227.11, JDWS, down by 7.03 per cent to 899.99, PKGP, down by 5.41 per cent to 103.00, BNWM, down by 3.51 per cent to 34.86, and SCBPL, down by 1.62 per cent to 56.02.
On the other hand, companies showing gains included MEHT, up by 7.09 per cent to 698.99, EFUG, up by 6.58 per cent to 119.98, SRVI, up by 6.55 per cent to 1,509.00, HCAR, up by 5.56 per cent to 316.00, and AIRLINK, up by 4.62 per cent to 198.40.
