PSX opens higher, KSE-100 maintains gains in early trade

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) opened on a positive note on Tuesday, with the benchmark KSE-100 index trading firmly in the green during the initial hours of the session.
The KSE-100 index began the day with a gain of 312 points, reaching 118,533.69 at 9:31 AM, with a trading volume of 25,655,898 shares. The index continued its upward trajectory, rising by 451.07 points to 118,672.19 by 10:28 AM, while the volume climbed to 137,899,124 shares.

During the morning session, several companies recorded notable percentage gains. Paramount Spinning Mills Limited (PASM) surged by 17.81 per cent or Rs0.65 to Rs4.30, followed by First Capital Securities Corporation (FCSC), which rose by 10.13 per cent or Rs0.16 to Rs1.74. Saritow Spinning Mills Limited gained 10.01 per cent or Rs1.68 to Rs18.47.
On the other hand, some companies were seen trading in the red. First Capital Equities Limited (FCEL) dropped by 12.50 per cent or Rs0.50 to Rs3.50. Sanghar Sugar Mills Limited (SANSM) declined by 10 per cent or Rs5.70 to Rs51.29, while Blue-Ex Limited (GEMBLUEX) fell by 9.95 per cent or Rs6.41 to Rs58.02.
At around 11:15 AM, the benchmark index stood at 118,397.02, showing an increase of 175.90 points compared to the previous close. Over the past year, the KSE-100 index has posted a gain of 56.78 per cent. On a year-to-date (YTD) basis, it is up by 2.84 per cent. In the 52-week range, the index has traded between a low of 71,781.96 and a high of 120,796.67.

The PSX closed Monday’s session on a negative note, with the KSE-100 index dropping by 881.55 points or 0.74 per cent to settle at 118,221.12.
The index fluctuated within a range of 1,140.67 points, hitting an intraday high of 119,290.94 (up 188.27 points) and a low of 118,150.27 (down 952.40 points).
Key laggards that pulled the index lower included Engro Corporation (ENGROH) with a contribution of -107.27 points, Systems Limited (SYS) -105.65 points, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) -91.84 points, Fauji Fertiliser Company (FFC) -74.23 points, and Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) -73.78 points.
Meanwhile, companies that contributed positively were K-Electric (KEL) with +92.34 points, Pakistan Services Limited (PSEL) +61.88 points, Attock Refinery Limited (ATRL) +36.92 points, Pakistan Telecommunication Company (PTC) +17.46 points, and Engro Fertilisers (EFERT) +16.27 points.
