PSX opens week over 1,600 points higher

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) began the week on a positive note, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index opening in green territory and posting notable early gains. At around 9:40 AM, the PSX surged by 681.59 points to reach 146,064.38, with trading volume standing at 8.26 million shares.
As the session progressed, the upward momentum eased slightly, but the market remained in positive territory. By 10:40 AM, the PSX was up 243.01 points, or 0.17 percent, at 145,625.80.
The intraday high so far stood at 146,064.38, while the day’s low was recorded at 145,258.49. Total traded volume had climbed to 38.82 million shares, with the stock market’s value reaching Rs5.37 billion.
Top gainers
In the broader market performance, several stocks made strong advances. Among the most active shares were Loads Limited, Sitara Peroxide Limited, Fauji Cement Limited, Interloop Limited, and Cherat Packaging Limited, each posting gains. Top advancers included GSPM, FIBLM, GUSM, PASM, and RUBY, with price hikes ranging between 10 and nearly 20 percent.
Top losers
Conversely, leading decliners included GEMBLUEX, SHCM, UPFL, FIL, and TRIPF, with losses between 8 and 10 percent.
In terms of percentage losses among KSE-100 companies, Unilever Pakistan Foods led the decline with a 9.11 percent drop, followed by JDW Sugar Mills (down 2.71 percent). Other notable fallers included EFU General Insurance, Fauji Cement Company, Habib-ADM Limited, and Gadoon Textile Mills.

Friday’s session had ended with the KSE-100 at 145,382.79, marking a loss of 264.34 points, or 0.18 percent. Today’s trading so far has seen the market move within a range of 805.89 points, with overall sentiment remaining cautiously optimistic despite some profit-taking.
Day high
The PSX continued to fluctuate, with the day’s low as of 3:00 PM recorded at 145,258.49. However, the market later recovered, and by around 3:27 PM, the index had surged by 1,622.24 points to reach an intraday high of 147,005.03, with the trading volume at 292,777,748 shares.
